Short Story

Marios is a 55-days-old infant, who has been fighting for his life ever since he came into this world, since he was diagnosed with hydrocephalus during the third trimester of pregnancy. He was born via C-section, which was scheduled in a private clinic of Athens. When he was just 2 days old, he was subjected to a VP shunt placement. Three days later however, Marios suffered a septic shock due to a valve infection. As a result, the doctors had to remove the VP shunt and to place an external ventricular shunt to the other side of the head. The baby is currently receiving medication, while in a few days he will be subjected to a new VP shunt placement.

Campaign Story

Marios is a 55-days-old infant, who has been fighting for his life ever since he came into this world. The child was diagnosed with hydrocephalus during the third trimester of pregnancy, however his tests revealed a dramatic increase of the cerebrospinal fluid, in just a few weeks time. As a result, the delivery was scheduled in a private clinic of Athens. Marios was born via C-section, while he was immediately transferred to the NICU, since his condition was considered critical. When he was just 2 days old, he was subjected to a VP shunt placement. Three days later however, Marios suffered a septic shock due to a valve infection. As a result, the doctors had to remove the VP shunt and to place an external ventricular shunt to the other side of the head.

It’s been 55 days since his birth, and baby Marios still hasn’t gotten discharged from the clinic. The baby is currently receiving medication, while in a few days he will be subjected to a new VP shunt placement. As we can all understand, the cost of the baby’s hospitalization and surgical procedures is immense. The boy’s parents have found themselves in a dead end, and they are unable to cope with the cost of the upcoming surgery and the specialized tests, which are essential for monitoring his condition.

Baby Marios is just 55 days old and he is already fighting for his life. Today, he needs us by his side. So let us all join forces and offer this little fighter a second chance in life! Together, for baby Marios!
